This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, the Grand Cherokee gets a factory-installed DVD navigation system integrated into the radio. Columbia, Freedom and Special Edition trims are also new for 2004. All of these models incorporate subtle cosmetic touches and equipment upgrades. Additionally, each Columbia Edition Jeep comes with a complimentary Columbia parka.

Pros:
  • Powerful 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain capability, roomy comfort for four.
Cons:
  • Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability, trucklike on-road handling.

Bought in 2004 brand new. Fun to drive. very reliable. The v6 is a little slower than the v8.But still good pickup.Gas mileage is the only problem. $70.00 to fill up. And the gas goes fast.Around town if you dont use the A/C as much,it will help on the gas mileage.

I have had five of these vehicles as they evolved from 1992 onward. As a field vehicle in my biological research I found them unbeatable. Now, in retirement, I continue to enjoy the vehicle for travel and everyday use.

Brand New Jeep needed a new transmition at 600 miles! But I did receive great customer service from Alhambra Jeep. After 6 months driving rentals I got a full refund. Maybe in the future when Chrysler improves the Larado I will buy again. (Stereo system is horrible.)

  • A very happy repeat Jeep buyer! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is my 7th Jeep vehicle, and 5th Grand Cherokee. The common complaint of the windows not working and/or the interior lights not shutting off is a simple broken ground wire in the drivers door harness. Took me 10 minutes to fix. Overall, Im very pleased with this Jeep, although some things have not lasted as long as older models Ive owned, namely, the hood supports failed at 50k, all 4 shocks leaking at 60k, and rear axle seals at 70k. Other than that, its been rock-solid reliable. Fuel mileage is outstanding for an engine whose roots date back to the early 1960s. By the way, its an inline 6, not a V6 as some reviewers have written. I would and do recommend the Grand Cherokee!

In 6000 miles,Ive had to have the Air Conditioner repaired, the brake light replaced and the rear brake rotors replaced.

Its fun and easy to drive. You have to be a little careful when turning on sharp turns; its not as stable as it could be. Great view of the road and I like the roomy feeling.

This Jeep screams! The HO engine is an unexpected pleasure at any stop light. Merging onto a highway is a dream. You often forget that you are in a Jeep.

I have driven my Jeep to the Extreme, I have made it go into 4 feet of water with absolutly no problem. I like the the way it picks up speed quickly. Ride is not so soft but its not too hard like the Nissan X-terras. The SUV looks quite stylish and a little expensive looking. The Tailgate door needs a little more of a matching design. the rear tailgate door looks a lot like its relative the Dodge Minivan. Ive seen the new 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee they look nice but still no third row seats. But yes I do recommend eep other than it seems like most Jeeps have a rear light problem.

40k miles and on 4th set of replacement front rotors. They represent the 5th set of front rotors. Would not buy another Jeep unless the problem (inherent since the mid 80s Im told) was resolved.
